Ice Cream Without an Ice Cream Maker? Yes you read it right!
Ice cream is one of my family’s favorite treats and like most of my favorite meals, I love preparing mine at home, and yes! without an ice cream maker.
All you need for this ice cream are 2 ingredients and your flavor of choice.

Ingredients
– 1 can (14 ounces or 396grams) Sweetened Condensed milk.
– 2 cups(500ml) cold Whipping cream or heavy cream
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract OR 1 vanilla bean

Tip: for chocolate ice cream, you can use 1 tablet of melted chocolate.
For Strawberry and Banana taste, make use of the fresh fruits or any extract or flavor made from the fruits.
Freeze the pan before use and make sure that the other ingredients are cold.

Steps:
1. In a bowl, whisk together condensed milk and vanilla extract or whatever flavor you want to use.
(if using chocolate, melt it and add into the condensed milk and whisk together)

2. Pour the cold whipping cream or heavy cream in another bowl (a large one),and beat/whip the cream for 3 minutes, on high speed using an electric mixer/whisk
Beat the cream until it forms a stiff peak(just like in the pic below)

3. Now combine the whipped cream and
the condensed milk together.
Mix well and pour into an airtight container, cover, and store in freezer for at
least 6-8 hours or until it is firm(I used a frozen loaf pan).
Take out of the freezer , serve and enjoy!

PS: If you live in Nigeria, you can get the whippig cream/heavy cream at major supermarkets (Shoprite,Park ‘n’ Shop etc)

Summertime is one of my favorite times of the year to go out and find the best vanilla ice cream. I love all flavors of ice cream, but a scoop of true pure vanilla is the ultimate sophisticated dessert

Please where can I get vanilla extract and for the chocolate do you mean melting chocolates like Mars, Bounty etc?

    • May 10, 2019 / 6:39 pm

      Hi Oni,
you can get vanilla extract at any store that sells cake making items.
A plain chocolate bar is better, cos Mars and Bounty have other ingredients in them like coconut and caramel. But I must confess that they are also great in ice cream, so feel free to indulge 🙂

Hi Nky, what can I use to cover air tight, also can a cake pan serve as a loaf pan in this context, u know how our Nigerian local pans be

    • May 10, 2019 / 6:43 pm

Yes you can make use of that pan hun.
Some people actually make use of plastic containers but I preder the metal pans.
And you can use a foil paper to cover the pan in the freezer.

HI Onyi, at the top right hand side of this website you'll see a place to put in your email address, and you have to confirm it in your email box.As for the quantity to use for the condensed milk, I have already replied and explained everything to you in your last comment, pls check it and read it.But also make sure the condensed milk you made has not spoilt yet, because I don't understand the ''foam at the top''.

For the fresh fruits, at what point do I add them? for fruits like banana, coconut and strawberries, how do I go about with them? Do I just whisk them with the milk or I blend separately?

    • Nky Lily Lete
      October 23, 2014 / 9:56 am

Cut the fruits into bits and soak in a little sugar and rum/vodka(alcohol) for 3 hours. This will soak up the excess water in the fruit, so that it does not become crunchy(like ice block) when placed in the freezer.

Hi dear, I don't have this recipe in the cake section. As I suggested in the recipe above, If you'll like to make strawberry and chocolate ice cream, you can melt 1 tablet of melted chocolate or use strawberry extract. Add it to the condensed milk bowl in step 1. I will try to do a post on cream cheese frosting, and yes you can get cream cheese at major supermarkets (Shoprite,Park 'n' Shop)
